Slot Tournaments

Slot tournaments are a lot of fun. The progress of a tournament can be very exciting to follow too – especially if you’re near the top of a leaderboard for a tourney you’ve entered.

But if you are new to slot tournaments and how they work, it’s important to find out all you can about how they work. We’ve highlighted three main elements here. Make sure you read them before you try your luck in your first tourney.

Is there a buy-in or is there free entry?

Many tournaments are open for people to enter with no fee to pay for doing so. Others implement a small entry fee – known as a buy-in. This is normally only a few dollars – maybe $3 or $5 at most, although it depends on the site. The information for the tournament will reveal whether you get free entry or not, and if not, how much the buy-in is.

How long does the tournament last for?

This could be anything from 24 hours to a month. Few tournaments last any longer than that. Some might last for a long weekend, or a week, or something longer. To give yourself the best chance of winning something, make sure you’re in at the start.

What is the prize pool like and how many prizes are there?

The prize pool is the total amount of cash available to give to prize winners. Some tournaments have a set amount on offer, such as $1,000 for example. Others will state the prize pool is ‘The Pot’. This is the total amount that is deposited into the prize pool for people buying into the tournament.

You should also look at whether there will be just one winner who will scoop the entire prize, or whether it will be split between several people. The bigger tournaments usually have several prizes – maybe even as many as 10 or 20 of them. The shorter a tournament is, the smaller the prize pool is likely to be and the fewer prizes will be given out.

As you can see, there are several elements involved here that are worth finding out more about. The more you know about slot tournaments, the easier it will be to know how to approach them. The more you enter, the better the chances are of eventually winning one of them too, so good luck!
